Western Fist of the North Star to be more violent!

As if we needed any further proof that Japan regards Western gamers as bloodthirsty gorehounds, Omega Force producer Hisashi Koinuma has stated that his team is likely planning a more brutal version of Fist of the North Star for the roundeye fans. The game is already out in Japan, and seems to be selling quite well.

“There won’t be any gameplay changes,” says Koinuma. “However, for overseas fans, we’ll probably adjust the expressions of violence so that it’s more extreme.”

Omega Force is also planning DLC for the game, having just released an original Manga costume for Kenshiro in Japan. More scenarios, including a challenge mode, are being considered. While a sequel has not been confirmed, Koinuma notes that fan demand may create the need for one, as well as other anime/Manga adaptations in future. Of course, this is a Tecmo Koei game, so more sequels and spin-offs are basically guaranteed.

Fist of the North Star is a melding of the original Manga and Dynasty Warriors style gameplay. It’s looked pretty damn awesome to us and we can’t wait for the Western release, especially if they’re upping the violence ante. I admit it, I am a bloodthirsty gorehound.
