Web mag Play.d profiles my favorite game journalist: Luke Smith

Recommended Videos

There are a handful of gaming journalists I actually respect in the industry and the one at the top of that list is 1UP’s Luke Smith. Believe it or not, but I come from a hard-core journalist education and work experience background (I was a government/police reporter and news editor for two different newspapers at one point in my life), so I always appreciate those in this industry that take a more honest approach to bring you, the gamer, the news you want to know — because at the end of the day, you’re the ones spending your hard-earned money on these games.

In fact, I like to think I’ve brought that same attitude to Destructoid and it’s reflective in our critical look at the industry — we don’t roll over to anyone and we try to be as honest with you as possible.

Back on point. In Play.d’s recent issue, they evidently thought the same thing and did a very glowing profile of Luke Smith and the impact he’s brought to the gaming industry. I encourage you all to read it and let us know where you stand on bringing a new and honest view to video game journalism. Are the “everything is fine here, move along” days of game journalism dead and buried?

You can download the issue here and the piece begins on page 33. For those too lazy to download or stuck somewhere where they can’t view a PDF, we’ve attached the article to our gallery.
