Earlier today, Kevin wrote about how much he’s been enjoying Starr Mazer: DSP, the retro-sexy SHMUP that I gushed about earlier this year. Kevin specifically mentioned that the music “brings to mind the robotic guitar licks of Sega’s Genesis (Mega Drive) or the slap-bass and orch hits the SNES did so well,” and I couldn’t agree more.

That’s why we’ve worked with Scarlet Moon Productions to nab a couple of exclusive tracks from the game, allowing you to listen to them here:

Yeah, baby. I’m into it. Composer Alex Mauer says she was inspired by “80s style Outrun…demoscene musicians like Lizardking…and a visit to Miami,” which means she’s probably way cooler than I am. If you dig the music, remember that Starr Mazer: DSP is now out on Steam Early Access.

[Disclosure: Scarlet Moon Productions is ran by Jayson Napolitano, former employee of Destructoid. He worked here way before Zack did, and their only connection is cordial meetings and a couple of dinners.]
