Yesterday in Los Angeles, a tournament for the ages was held. Long will mankind speak of the Classic Tetris World Championship and the name Jonas Neubauer will be inextricably linked with the event as its first victor. You can watch all the exciting action filmed at the Downtown Independent Theater in the video above.

Okay, I’ll level with you. When I heard about the story, I thought it cool and was rather excited to watch the video. It’s a staggering disappointment. You can’t even see the on-screen action, just the two competitors, Neubauer and runner-up Harry Hong, shot at a bad angle. It sounds like any footage worth seeing will be found in an upcoming documentary on the event and its participants, tentatively titled Ecstasy of Order.

Neubauer, a 29-year old loan coordinator, won $1,000 for his efforts. Not a bad chunk of change for a few good rounds of Tetris. Congratulations to him.
