If you’ve played Warzone since Season 3 Reloaded, there’s a decent chance that you’ve been beaten to death by a Tonfa stick. Despite the developer nerfing them, Warzone players still think they are way too strong, and are begging for them to be made useless.
Before the May 15 patch, the Tonfa killed players faster than any other weapon in the game inside a three-meter distance. That’s because with just three hits of the Tonfa, a player can kill an enemy with full health and three armor plates, which is very strong considering how quickly you can swing it.
Now, while it takes four hits with the Tonfa to eliminate players, fans of the battle royale still think it’s too powerful, and were not impressed with the nerf handed down.
In a post on the official Warzone subreddit, which claimed the patch “changed basically nothing,” players vented their frustrations.
“So useful,” wrote Moistman123456. “Regardless, that little sh*t can still aim-lock you like a free Cronus Zen, hit you so fast you barely have enough time to pull out your gun before getting battered and beaten to oblivion, and it’s still ridiculously overpowered.”
As for how they’re performing in-game now, Formal-Cry7565 stated that he had just been “screwed out of a 20 kill win by a dude camping behind a bathroom door with that weapon in about 0.2 seconds,” while Dreadnar called the the nerfs “a joke” and said most people were still running Tonfas in his Plunder matches.
With these nerfs seemingly not doing enough, IDKWTFG suggested nerfing “them into oblivion until no one wants to use them, and then slowly buff them back to a level that is fair.”
“It feels like you could quadruple the TTK on them and they’d still probably be annoying to deal with,” they continued. “If there is anything in this game that feels broken, OP, annoying, [or] doesn’t feel right, it’s dealing with melee.”
While it’s good news that Warzone‘s development team is paying attention to fans and dropped the nerf, it clearly hasn’t gone far enough. I actually stopped playing Warzone at the weekend because of the Tonfa, and until I hear that the issue is properly addressed, I’ll stay clear. I’d rather not play at all than get beaten to death every game, that’s for sure.
