Warner Bros. and Threshold FIGHT! over MK movie

As if the idea of another Mortal Kombat game didn’t seem odd enough at this point, it appears that two companies are currently vying for the production of a third flick based on the property. The Wrap is reporting that Threshold Entertainment has slapped Warner Bros., the current owner of the MK franchise, with a breach-of-contract lawsuit. Threshold believes it should be the one developing the movie after purchasing rights from Midway in 2006, but Warner Bros. hasn’t held up that end of the bargain since acquiring the IP, and has reportedly, hired their own people to do the movie.

We haven’t the slightest idea what the hell is actually going on, mainly because it’s hard to imagine that someone wants to do another MK flick. In a recent tweet, series creator Ed Boon said “Must. Bite. Tongue. Harder … ” So, perhaps we should as well until this all spills out in the open. Like guts after Kabal gets done wrecking a dude.
