Wargame: European Escalation multiplayer beta announced

If you’ve been paying close attention on Steam, you’ll have noticed you can pre-order Wargame: European Escalation. With the game just over a week away from launch, developer Eugen Systems has released a trailer showing the multiplayer features. If you’ve pre-purchased the game, then you’ll have access to an exclusive multiplayer beta that will run up until the game’s launch.

In this trailer, creative director Alexis Le Dressay talks us through the stat and achievement tracking, global ranking system, and the community options that allow you and your friends to compete in up to 4 vs. 4 matches on huge maps. Watching the video, it looks like there’s going to be great scale to the battles with tanks, choppers, and more vehicles tearing up the European countryside.

Seeing an RTS game that takes place during an alternative historical setting where NATO and the Eastern Bloc went to war between 1975 and 1985 is a real interesting idea. Thankfully, such a land war never took place but European Escalation might scratch that alternate-history itch.
