Want to immediately get better at Monster Hunter Rise? Actually use the training room

It’s worth it!

Monster Hunter Rise lets you access 14 different weapon types at once. At the start.

Wait what?! It can be a lot to take in at first, but just pick one, stick with it, and head to the training room right away.

There are a few beginner-friendly weapons for Rise, but I recommend the Long Sword, Great Sword, and Hammer. Your personal playstyle will dictate which one you gel with, but to get a feel for all of them, actually visit the training room before you start committing to one and pumping crafting items into it.

To access it, you’ll need to head to the buddy plaza (across the bridge near the marketplace in the village), then go to the tiny boat at the very end of the area (pictured). I know! Visiting the training room is so lame in basically every game. But for Monster Hunter Rise, it can make all the difference. One of the reasons why is due to the fact that the training room is actually a pretty good way to get a handle on combat. It’ll display helpful tooltips on-screen for what your moveset actually does, as well as combos and special abilities.

It’s a common practice to enter the training room with a weapon you already feel comfortable with and discover something new. So before you give up on Rise, or even a specific weapon, give it a whirl and see how you might be missing out on a huge aspect of it.
