Another week, another dose of retro on your Wii via the Virtual Console. I want to sound more enthused, but truthfully it’s ten am here and I’m still struggling my way out of the clutches of sleep.

The first game this week is Fantasy Zone (Sega Master System, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points) in which you control the Opa-Opa spaceship through a side-scrolling universe and blast everything to bits in your way. Unlike the average shooter, Fantasy Zone allows you to access a shop to buy parts for your ship along the way. Unfortunately there are no drive-thrus along the way. I guess Sega didn’t realize that sometimes a man needs a cheeseburger.

Game two is Mega Turrican (Sega Genesis, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone 10 and OlderFantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points), in which you play Bren McGuire (that’s one hell of a manly name there, Bren), the last survivor of the United Freedom Forces on a mission to save your universe from the tyrannical rule of the Machine. You may recall that Super Turrican was released back in March, so this is an ideal opportunity to complete Bren’s adventures if you enjoyed that title. If you didn’t play it, you should, as it’s unlikely that your name is even a parsec as manly as Bren’s, and you may as well take the opportunity to feel burly.

Check out the press release and a video of Mega Turrican after the jump.
