Vietnam’s first big game is a historical FPS

Vietnam’s Emobi Games is working on what they think will be the country’s first big game release. It’s called 7554 (representing May 7, 1954), and it’s a first-person shooter based on the First IndoChina war. In it, players take on the role of a Vietnam army member.

“There has never been a video game of this size and scope from Vietnam and that fact alone gives us a lot of national pride,” said Emobi director Nguyen Tuan Huy tells 1UP. “It is our privilege and our challenge to create a first person shooter that gamers will enjoy playing. And though 7554 is based on historical events, it is not an attempt to recreate the past, but rather it is a vehicle meant for entertainment.”

While this game may have a hard time standing up to the top franchises in war FPS out there, it has a few things going for it. First, 1UP says that it will be available for just $12 on PC (single-player price) when it’s released in February in the United States and France. This game would give us a different viewpoint from what we’re used to in historical FPS titles.

Be sure to check out the trailer. Not bad, huh?
