Video hints at April 26 unveil of the XCOM shooter

[Update: A blog post from 2K Games has confirmed that the “XCOM universe is expanding. In the coming days the world will get a fresh look at the long-awaited squad-based tactical shooter in development at 2K Marin.”]

It seems increasingly likely that 2K Games is about to once again lift the curtain on the XCOM first-person shooter. We don’t specifically know why now is the right time — perhaps the game has changed direction again and is now far enough along to go public, or Enemy Unknown‘s success played some part in its continued financial support — but the evidence speaks for itself.

A new video, set in 1962 based on its title, has surfaced. This comes from the same account that has been linked with earlier coverage of XCOM‘s would-be re-reveal. Of special note are the words “APR 26” and “2K” at the 0:16 mark. If true, at least we’ll get this over with before long.
