Video Games Live: Level 3 album funded

Over a quarter of a million raised

Hearing Video Games Live’s take on Super Mario World got me all excited for its new album, which has thankfully been successfully funded on Kickstarter as of this week. (Here’s hoping for approval from Nintendo.) Just over $285,000 was raised for Level 3 on the platform and, if you missed your chance, Tommy Tallarico and co. are selling the digital tiers for a limited time off-site.

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a bit emotional yesterday when we finally achieved our goal,” Tallarico wrote. “It’s been such a honor for me over the past decade to help give video game music and the entire video game industry the artistic recognition it deserves. Many people told me it was going to be impossible to do a campaign of this magnitude. Many people said it couldn’t be done and we weren’t going to make it. But we all got together and made it happen!”

Level 3 has a target release date of February 18, 2014. Arrangements from Monkey Island, Street Fighter II, Skyrim, Journey, Shadow of the Colossus, Beyond Good and Evil, Tetris, Silent Hill 2, World of Warcraft, and Diablo III are confirmed to be included.
