Say it isn’t so! Nex put up Virtua Fighter 5 video that made me feel funny in the pantal regions, but with this new news I’m afraid that blue pills might be in order.

The folks over at Gaming-Age have received a copy of the retail boxed version of Virtua Fighter 5 for the PS3 and have uncovered something that hopefully is just a typo. The North American box listed 720p as the only supported HD video format available, while this week’s Japanese release supports 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. Jim at GA goes on to explain that some gamers with the Japanese version claimed that the 1080p content “didn’t look quite right” and that it may just be upscaled.

Sony, SEGA, please give us something to appreciate our 1080p televisions with other than Ridge Racer 7 and some Blu-ray movies. You can’t just take away multiplayer and then think it’s OK to remove Full HD too.
