Velvet Assassin quietly fades into the 2009 shadows

Gamecock studios have announced that Velvet Assassin will not be hitting European or North American stores until “early 2009.” The date change is a fairly significant move, considering that the title was originally supposed to debut this October.

According to a Eurogamer coversation with a spokesman for the game, the reason for the delay is rather simple. It gives Gamecock some additional time to work out kinks and dodge all the other promising games this Fall. Generally speaking, new IPs tend not to perform well around the holidays. I would stay away from LittleBigPlanet, Fallout 3, and Fable 2 as well.

If you’re unfamiliar with Velvet Assassin check out our preview from E3. Anthony was able to get his hands on the title and talk about the specifics of hitting dudes in the junk … with knives. Very entertaining and I believe it speaks volumes for the title. You can also hit up the game’s official website for some wicked hot videos and a preview of the narrative elements that compose the game.
