Vampire Survivors’ dev’s next side project is a Warhammer collab that looks too good to be true for franchise fans

This is "part of the official Survivors lineage," so it's legit.

Vampire Survivors, the game that started off the action roguelike bullet hell craze, is evolving with a new title that’s “part of the official” lineage of the genre. And it’s a pretty big collab, too.

Warhammer Survivors can be thought of, for all intents and purposes, as a licensed sequel or expansion to Vampire Survivors. It’s a standalone title and an official collab between main developer Auroch Digital (Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun) and poncle, the studio behind the OG Survivors game.

When you see it in action, yeah, it’s Vampire Survivors with a Warhammer twist, but that’s pretty sweet on its own. Vampire Survivors spawned a ton of clones and an entire genre with its addictive bullet hell success, and so to see something official from that game’s devs with a brand collab as big as Warhammer feels like a big deal.

“Choosing from the Warhammer: 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universes, players will lead a roster of iconic characters and endure against the swarms of relentless enemies,” the press release said. “Weapons and power-ups can be combined into devastating new forms to create screen-clearing storms of bullets, blades, and magic. Experiment in every run with new strategies, unlocking new characters, upgrades, weapon combinations, as well as troves of secrets and collectables waiting to be discovered.”

Playable characters include Boltgun hero Malum Caedo, along with the Cadian Shock Trooper, Trooper Kozlowski, and Brother Luca, while Age of Sigmar’s Neave Blacktalon is joined by Gotrek Gurnisson, Sharynn Azurwrath, and Stormcast Eternal Vanquisher.

And of course, as one would expect from Warhammer, weapons include the Boltgun, Astartes Chainsward, Whirlwind Axes, and franchise easter eggs like “the humble pot of Citadel Nuln Oil paint.” I’m not a Warhammer guy myself, so I have no idea what that is, but that sounds like it could be cool for fans of the IP.

Warhammer Survivors is due to launch on Steam in 2026.
