Update: E3 10: Sony launches “Marcus” ad campaign for PSP

Recommended Videos

Sony’s response to Nintendo launching a revolutionary handheld with a library of games that makes your face melt? An angry black child.

Way to win that one, Sony.

The kid’s name is Marcus and it appears he is going to be their PSP rep. I’m not sure why they’re steering away from Kevin Butler, who rocks all forms of socks, but evidently they are. Hopefully we still see Butler for the PS3 ads, which I would guess is true because they just had him up on stage. I suppose the ads did seem pretty funny, and at least it isn’t a return to pre-Kevin Butler Sony advertising.

Update: Now you can see the ads! The wonders of video, eh? Above is what they showed off at the Sony press conference, and below you’ll see a “finished” version of one of the ads and a previously unseen ad as well. I suppose they’re pretty funny and it’s interesting to note that they take on the iPhone and not the DS. You know maybe I’ll get a PS … oh, look 3D! Sorry, Marcus, but I gotta go.

Update 2: Aaaaand one more “finished” ad added below.
