While we wait patiently for the inevitable third installment of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series, it’s time to get learned with some reading. Del Rey has announced that it will be publishing a novel, Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth in the fall of 2011.

Written by Christopher Golden (who wrote a number of Buffy the Vampire Slayer novels, as well as two of the vampire killer’s games), The Fourth Labyrinth is a new adventure that has series protagonist Nathan Drake hunting for the lost maze of Daedalus. Drake’s exploits will take him from Crete to China in his search for yet another enigmatic legend.

Fall 2011 is a ways off, which leaves Sony and Naughty Dog plenty of time to announce another sequel, the release of which would tie in nicely with a novel. Not that we don’t think reading is fundamental and all, but the wait for another Uncharted game is getting painful.
