TY the Tasmanian Tiger reemerging on Facebook

You could probably be forgiven for having forgotten about TY the Tasmanian Tiger. Honestly, the only reason I remember it was due to watching copies of all three installments of the series languish on the shelves back in my retail days. Always struck me as a low-rent Gex with a slightly more annoying accent.

It seems we may be seeing the Aussie marsupial (which bears the name of a feline because the world just needs to be difficult in that way) make a return to games. Krome Studios has just launched “Bush Rescue HQ,” an application on Facebook where members will be able to get all the latest developments on future TY videogame titles and play around with a variety of toys.

Right now, there’s a character creator up which allows you to customize your very own Tasmanian tiger. I played with it briefly and was disappointed to discover that the only thing you can change at the outset are the character’s pants. Apparently, the little white briefs aren’t enough. That just screams prejudice to me. What if I wanted to make an indigenous tiger?

Future additions will be coming weekly on TY Tuesdays. Anybody else remember this series and desire its rekindling?
