Tropico fans had to wait six years after Tropico 2: Pirate’s Cove was released for a new title; in 2009, developer Haemimont Games released Tropico 3. To prove that it’s serious about this Tropico business, the developer has just announced Tropico 4 for a 2011 release.
The game will feature an all new campaign, spanning 20 missions across 10 new maps. You want buildings? There are 20 new ones, including a Stock Exchange and the Mausoleum to El Presidente. Disasters? You got it — they’re adding volcanoes, droughts, and tornadoes to the mix. Harassing folks via Twitter and Facebook? Done. The PC version of Tropico 4 will link to your social networks and allow you to post when you complete a mission or unlock an achievement. There will even be a Facebook page where you’ll be able to keep track of your Dictator ranking.
The title is currently in development for the Windows PC, but Haemimont says info on console versions is forthcoming. Tropico 3 was also released on the Xbox 360, so that seems like a good bet. Anyone ready to get dirty as El Presidente again?
