Trion Worlds announces free-to-play voxel adventure Trove

Alpha sign-ups open

Behold the announcement trailer for Trove, a voxel-based online adventure RPG with procedurally-generated worlds. In development at Trion Worlds with a small team for the last year, players will be able to explore and destroy a variety of different zones in what sounds like a limitless number of unique worlds.

An alpha has already been announced and sign-ups have opened, with the developers expressing a desire to build a community which will help inform the gameplay design going forward.

Based on what little is shown, Trove doesn’t seem terribly original. I suppose there’s some hope for an interesting twist to come out of the alpha and it’s generally a positive thing when a developer puts forth an effort to engage their audience and include them in the process. And it’ll be free-to-play, so the only risk is to Trion Worlds. Might be worth keeping an eye on in the coming months.
