BioWare’s Mass Effect franchise already has a rich narrative history. With two games in the can (and another one on the way), three books, an iPhone game, and comics, there’s plenty to talk about.
Of course, Hollywood has taken notice, according to Mass Effect 2 project director Casey Hudson. “Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture,” he recently told MTV Movies Blog.
This isn’t the first word we’ve heard of a Mass Effect film. Back in 2008 it was reported that Avi Arad has obtained the rights to create a film adaptation. But not so fast — Hudson says there are a lot of factors that have to be in place before they really move forward.
“The most important thing for us is we don’t just want to see a movie get made,” he explains. “We want to see a great movie get made, if it’s going to get made at all.”
If you simply can’t wait, Mass Effect 2 ships for Xbox 360 and PC next week.
