Trails of Cold Steel III will be exclusive to PS4

Mankind must livvvvvvvvve on PS4 only

The past decade has seen a number of Nihon Falcom games finally localized to the west, including multiple entries from the Ys and Legend of Heroes series. Next to Shining, Legend of Heroes is perhaps the largest RPG series that I have virtually no experience with. I recently added Trails in the Sky along with the first two Trails of Cold Steel games to the super-massive black hole that is my backlog, but suddenly Nihon Falcom announced a third one last year. I need to invest in a hyperbolic time chamber.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III will be releasing in Japan in the fall of 2017, but exclusive to PlayStation 4. The previous two games were only on PS3 and Vita, so this announcement may be a disappointment to Vita owners. Esterior.net claims Nihon Falcom President Toshihiro Kondo stated in a Q&A that the reason for the PS4 exclusivity was to “ensure that the game will sell internationally, rather than just domestically,” but I have yet to find anything that verifies this claim.
