Runic Games’ Torchlight scratched a very specific itch for many of us. More than 500,000 of us to date, if you want to talk specifics. Now that the point-and-click-heavy RPG has expanded beyond being only available on PC as a digital release, you can bet that number isn’t about to stop climbing anytime soon.

One thing that always troubles me about the downloadable games scene — and this goes for all platforms — is an overall unwillingness by developers and publishers to talk about sales. When’s the last time we heard how well WiiWare titles are (or aren’t) selling? We want to know because we care; simple as that.

In the case of Runic Games, thanks must be given out. Thanks for being open about these figures, and congratulations on the success so far. Everyone anticipating the Torchlight MMO ought to be delighted by this news, for sure.
