Tokyo Game Show 2011’s theme: GAME – Dancing Your Heart

The press release opens up like this:

Unveiling new fascinating areas,
TOKYO GAME SHOW 2011
is ready to grip your heart

That’s so…beautiful! I love TGS as both a gamer and as someone who writes about videogames for a living. It’s one of the highlights of my year. This year that highlight will take place on September 15-18 at Makuhari Messe, just outside of Tokyo.

TGS sends word that they’re going to continue to build on the show expansions they started last year. There will be an Asian Game Business Summit this year (boring!) for the dorks. In more exciting news, the vendors can now sell wares in the Merchandise Area for all four days of the show instead of just on the two public days, as it has always been. This year they’re featuring a Game School Area to help those looking to go to school to make games.

New additions include a Mobile & Social Game Area, which focuses on the recent explosion of mobile and social gaming. Also new is the Game Device Area, which will focus on accessories. Finally, they’ve added a PC & Network Game Area which will focus on high-performance gaming PCs.

Wow. They’re really beefing this show up! They’re expecting 1,500 booth units and 190,000 visitors for this year. I’m already looking forward to it.
