Tired of GameStop? Amazon now offers release date delivery for select games

“Would you like to pre-order Rock Band 2? No? Then how about reserving Gears of War 2? It’s going to be INTENSE! Well then, perhaps I can interest you in the Edge Card? It comes with a free subscription to Game Informer and …”

I try to limit my visits to GameStop for obvious reasons these days, so this bit o’ news about Amazon offering up “release-date delivery” for $5.98 is intriguing. Even better is the fact that Amazon Prime members can get this shipping upgrade for free.

Unfortunately, this relatively new shipping option isn’t available for all upcoming releases, but games like Fable 2, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed are among the titles to get the special treatment.

As far as I know, this is the cheapest method of getting games on day one without leaving the house. In fact, I’m actually considering subscribing to Amazon Prime now.
