This trailer for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is spooky

And that’s not just because it has a clown in it.

Those suffering from coulrophobia look away now. In this new live-action trailer for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, we get another hint of the paranoid flavour of the game’s early 1960s setting. Young Kevin is watching his favourite clown on TV before being urged to go and play outside by his mother. Nice move, mom — now Kevin’s missed the best bit of the show and it’s not like he can see the clip on YouTube later!

I’m not usually fussed about non-gameplay trailers like this one but I like how the period setting seems to be of real importance. It’s during the space race and the “red menace” years of Cold War paranoia, which feels like a period of history that can fit in well with the alien invasion angle.
