This Super Metroid hack is a pseudo-remake of Metroid Fusion

Lookin’ pretty hot

We don’t know much about what’s in store for the future of Metroid. Sure, Federation Force is coming (and I begrudgingly shaved a Metroid into the back of my head when it was announced), but I’m hungry for another side-scroller or first-person adventure. Is the NX going to bring us another game in the series more in the vein of what fans of the series were expecting?

Those fans aren’t content to sit around and wait for news. One person over on the Metroid Construction forum by the name of Metaguarius has decided to make a Super Metroid hack that re-imagines Metroid Fusion. In the video below, the Spore Spawn boss has been reconfigured as an X-host. He has different attacks (some of which look a little unfair, but creative nonetheless) than the original version, and the whole encounter is impressive.

Between this, Zero Mission being available on the Wii U Virtual Console, and that title containing the original Metroid, I’m feeling the need to run through the whole series, Chris Carter-style.
