Won’t get fooled again
It’s a tale nearly 10 years old at this point: Valve’s fans are a constantly dejected lot, never really willing to get their hopes too high anymore. Why would they? Valve has shown no inclination to make Half-Life 3, Portal 3, or Left 4 Dead 3.
Which brings us to this mysterious teaser trailer that claims to be from a third Left 4 Dead. It looks great. It’s moody and despondent in all the right ways — slow shots panning over the environment, growing in urgency and despair as the trailer moves along. Fantastic stuff.
The only problem is that we all know this isn’t real. When (or if) Valve decides to continue any of these storied franchises, the marketing trail won’t begin with a suspiciously-new YouTube account and a video title that’s just a haphazard file name. But, on the bright side, someone has a very neat teaser to add to their professional portfolio.
