Warner Bros. delivered unto us a massive quantity of screens for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. There’s thirty-five in all and they look quite nice. I’m especially fond of the one where a woman in a lab coat appears to be rolling her eyes. It probably has something to do with a similar reaction from me towards the first F.E.A.R. title.
I’m a little prejudiced against the series, I suspect, as a friend of mine managed to get me excited by saying it was the scariest thing he’d ever played. Apparently, my friend is a total wuss, as the only even disconcerting bits of F.E.A.R. (i.e. bloody, dreamlike hallways) hadn’t been all that interesting since I’d seen it done for the first time in Max Payne five years earlier.
But what do I know? The screens are graphically impressive and maybe they’ll make it frightening this time. So far, their viral marketing campaign is making some people uncomfortable if that counts for anything. Lord knows, I never turn down an opportunity to wet myself out of terror from the relative safety of my couch.
