Thief dropping QTEs because everyone hated them

You won’t have to mash the X button anymore

Thief, the sequel/reboot of the classic stealth game, had a demo awhile back that had some people upset over the use of a quick time events (QTEs), which had players smashing buttons to complete scripted parts of the game. No one like QTEs, and when they were spotted in Thief the mobs gathered with torches to yell and shout.

Well, you have been heard, and Eidos has decided to drop them from the game. In a recent community Q&A, it was revealed that the QTEs would be removed, due to the “strong reactions it evoked in the press and the community.”

I’m skeptical of the new Thief, mostly because I am worried they will try to turn it into an action game with too much combat, but it’s nice to know that Eidos is listening to what fans want.
