They Breathe is disturbing in all the right ways. For starters, it’s got the fear of running out of breath, one gamers have had since the days of Sonic the Hedgehog or before. And then there’s the creatures.
They look to me like horrifying jellyfish; the developers call them “strange aquatic mooses.” Whatever these things actually are, the way they squeeze the life out of frogs is not a particularly pleasant sight. A twist is being promised, with potentially “the coolest thing” about They Breathe being a story spoiler.
Since this is an Xbox Live Indie game, it’s going to get overlooked. Be the minority.
