There’s hope for a Vanquish 2, too

Six years after its console release, Vanquishs legacy might not be completely set in stone. There’s a chance that the Platinum-developed cult classic is getting a swan song, and it’s through a more substantial route than the likes of Xbox’s backward compatibility program.

In an interview with Kotaku, PlatinumGames’ co-founder Atsushi Inaba coyly teased that a PC port of Vanquish might be on the studio’s mind. When Kotaku asked about the possibility of the third-person shooter coming to PC, Inaba said “Hrm. I wonder… If you stop recording, I can talk about that. (laughs)”

That’s not the only time Vanquish came up. Inaba also commented that the studio would like to make a sequel, but he said it in an open-ended way regarding all of the developer’s properties. “For any time, if we have the chance to make a sequel, we want to do it. There is no title we don’t want to make a sequel for. So, of course, we want to make Bayonetta 3 and Vanquish 2. So, yes, we want to make sequels,” Inaba said.

It’s not much in the way of confirmation of anything, but it’s a glimmer of hope. It’s at least a sign that Platinum has had some sort of recent discussion about Vanquish. But, to get either of them done will probably require a publisher to bankroll.
