There’s a way to hide games on the Steam store that you already own elsewhere

What a good idea

I’ve never really considered this until now, but wouldn’t it be nice if there were a way to tell a digital video game storefront to stop showing you stuff that you already own on another platform? Think of all the time you’d save! Think of all the new experiences you might encounter in their absence!

As it turns out, Steam has that feature. It’s possible to mark games as “played on another platform.”

You can now mark games as owned on another platform, so they will stop appearing in your store but will be used to recommend similar games to you

Just head to a game page, click the drop-down arrow next to the “Ignored” button, and pick the new “Played” option doing so will hide the game in question from your Steam store but still use it to generate recommendations. That last detail is what separates this from straight-up ignoring.

It’s a bit of up-front effort, but the end result will be worth it if you’re tired of seeing the same familiar faces on your Steam home page. I’ll need to set aside some time for this before the next major sale.
