Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy iOS is a free app, paid songs

This could get expensive!

From the first minute I played Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy on the 3DS I wanted it for my iPhone. I have nothing against the 3DS, but I love this game so much that I always want it with me.

It’s coming to iOS, but according to a listing on the App Store in New Zealand, it will be a free download with paid songs. It looks like you’ll also buy characters.

I’m cool with that. While I love almost all of the Final Fantasy music, there are some that I won’t want to ever hear again. I won’t name those to prevent my house from being burnt down.

But, if you’re someone that needs all the songs, you’re going to hate this setup. If the character and song offerings match the 3DS it’s going to cost you over $100 to get all of the content.

The iOS version of the game will add a new Quest Medley mode, which sets a field and battle sequence to different songs and difficulties each time you start it. A Compose Score mode lets you make your own music and share it with other players. Expect new songs from developers, too. Finally, a Twitter feature lets you tweet out scores and songs.

Expect to see Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy on our App store soon.
