Down for one more adventure?

The Xbox One X releases on Tuesday and if you’re upgrading to the more-powerful system, you probably have some games in mind to test out (find a list of supported titles here).  Even though The Witcher 3 has been out for a while — long enough that you could’ve had your fill of the core game and the expansions and then some — I think it’ll be a good showcase. I mean, it’s a hell of a game.

CD Projekt RED has spoken more about its Xbox One X update for The Witcher 3 in a post on Xbox Wire. It’s said to support 4K resolution, “higher-quality shadows, ambient occlusion and texture filtering, as well as higher resolution textures, and an all-around performance boost.” So, the works.

“Thanks to 4K, we can show everything our artists created with more detail,” noted development lead Jakub Kutrzuba. “And it’s not just owners of a 4K TV who will benefit from the higher resolution. Thanks to supersampling, the leap in quality will be visible even on a 1080p screen.

As I said when I covered the PS4 Pro update, I’m glad the studio took time off from Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077 to work on this stuff. And supersampling? Icing on top.
