The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting an official mod editor in 2024

Geralt and his trusty steed, Thomas the Tank Engine.

If you’ve been itching for more of The Witcher, CD Projekt Red has announced that an official mod editor for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming in 2024. Not much more was said about this mod editor, though it was said that it’ll be free upon release.

“It will allow you to create your own experiences in the game by making something completely new or editing existing quests and content,” the post said. In the replies, one user asked if the mod editor would be coming to consoles in addition to PC, to which it replied that it’ll only be available for PC.

There’s no hint given as to when in 2024 this mod editor will be available, though the series’ account said more news would be shared “next year.”

In any case, fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are very excited for the chance to build their own content in the game. As a preview of what we can hope to expect when the mod editor drops, fans took it upon themselves to photoshop Geralt’s horse, Roach, out of the provided image and replace it with a fish and a bug, and the same user posted an image of Geralt shaking hands with Jason, of Friday the 13th fame.

I can’t wait until we can ride through The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt atop the most noble of steeds, Thomas the Tank Engine. You know it’ll happen, I know it’ll happen. And I can’t wait to see it.
