The Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity score Writers Guild Award nominations

Assassin’s Creed gets 9th nomination

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an unstoppable, award-winning machine. While it failed to take home the industry’s top prize, the Destructoid Game of the Year Award, it has secured victories from other, lesser organizations such as The Game Awards, the Golden Joystick Awards, and the Sex On Top Of Mythical Creatures Awards. Just a few days ago it received four nominations for the Game Developers Choice Awards, and on Monday another prestigious group shortlisted the game for its annual awards show.

The Witcher 3 is one of four games that scored a nomination from the Writers Guild of America. It’s up for Outstanding Achievement in Videogame Writing alongside Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Pillars of Eternity and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Better luck next year, I Am Bread.

None of the nominated titles are strangers to the award. Pillars‘ developer Obsidian Entertainment was previously nominated for Fallout: New Vegas. The Tomb Raider franchise was nominated back in 2009 for Underworld when it lost to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The original Witcher was among the first batch of nominees for this award, losing to Dead Head Fred. Finally, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s nomination represents the ninth for the series, a pretty amazing feat considering the award has only been given out since 2008.

Find out who wins when the WGA awards are announced on February 13.
