Polygamia has the scoop on the system requirements for CD Projekt’s highly anticipated The Witcher 2, a game that impressed me at Eurogamer and made Samit forget about sports in New York.

Recommended specs:
Processor: Intel Quad Core or AMD equivalent
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 260, 1 GB memory / Radeon HD 4850 with 1 GB memory
Memory: 3 GB for Windows XP / 4 GB for Windows Vista and Windows 7
Hard Disk: At least 16 GB of free space

Minimum specs:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD 2.5 GHz equivalent
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800, 512 MB memory or ATI HD3850 512 MB
Memory: 1 GB for Windows XP / 2 GB for Windows Vista and Windows 7
Hard Disk: 8 GB for the game installation and 8 GB for bonus materials

They look reasonable enough. Most mid-range rigs should be able to run it, but if you were thinking of what kind of new PC to build, the recommended specs do make for a nice guideline. While the recommended quad core processor didn’t include any model or speed, it’s safe to assume you’ll be fine with an i7 920 or something like that.

[Update: The Witcher 2’s newsletter has some more info on the AMD/ATI specs, which has been added to this post. We have not yet received any reply to inquiries about what kind of “quad core” or reference resolution is assumed]
