The Uncharted movie loses another director

The “upcoming” Uncharted movie, titled Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, hasn’t had the greatest pre-production experience in the world.

David O. Russell (I Heart Huckabees, Three Kingswas originally set to direct with his buddy Mark Wahlberg attached (the two had worked together on previous films), but dropped out in the middle of last year. Now, Neil Burger (Limitless, The Illusionist) is out, leaving the film director-free at the moment.

A pair of screenwriters, Marianne and Cormac Wibberley (National Treasure) are reportedly now completely rewriting the film. In a nutshell, it looks like it’ll end up like the Halo movie, with an endless revolving door of attached star power until the studio gets tired and pulls the plug.

Does anyone care anymore? I say just hire the writers of the first three Uncharted games, hire Nathan Fillion, and call it a day.
