At least eight playable characters
Capcom is gearing up to hold the third beta for Street Fighter V. If that seems like a lot, well, it kind of is by today’s standards. Capcom’s using these events less as a marketing stunt and more as actual tests to improve the game. Crazy, eh?
The beta, which is available on both PS4 and PC, starts tomorrow at 12:01am PT and runs until December 20 at 10pm PT. Ranked matches, casual matches, training, the Capcom Fighters Network, battle settings, and options will all be accessible. There will be two ten-hour maintenance periods where the beta will be temporarily shut down.
There’s a fair amount of variation in the roster this time, too. The event will start with Ryu, Birdie, Cammy, Necalli, Nash, and Laura. Over the course of the weekend, Dhalsim and Zangief will be added into the mix. Capcom also teases that “there might be some surprise characters along the way.”
All of this is leading to a February 16 launch that seems to be on-track. The betas don’t always go smoothly, but that’s well worth it (and expected) if the final product releases in an unbroken state.
