This weekend we poked our heads into Wizard World’s Chicago Comic Convention. If you aren’t familiar, Chicago ComiCon is quite a bit smaller than any of the happenings at SDCC, but definitely has its own flavor. It’s been quite a few years since I stepped into the convention, so I was surprised how much things have changed.

Right off we were greeted by a wide array of cosplayers, and were definitely happy to see the Westen comic book heroes were still represented. Unfortunately, besides the vendors, the theme of the convention itself was decidedly more about pop-culture and entertainment.

There were some pretty interesting guests signing autographs, doing panels, and posing for photo ops. Unfortunately, like at most conventions it was a bit of a pay to play presentation, in a way the whole model just kind of bums me out. There were some fantastic stands outs, as many of the celebrities like Vivica A Fox and Anthony Michael Hall opted to walk around the convention and talk to fans instead of being cooped up in a booth.
