Sad times.
The PSP will end software sales, and the UMD Passport program will be shut down on March 31, 2016 in Japan. After that point you can still re-download old content or buy though from other systems (PS3, PC, or Vita) and transfer it — just not through the PSP itself.
Although people tend to chide the system at times, it sold well, and is home to some of my favorite games. Classics like Mega Man Powered Up are constantly in my cycle of yearly titles to play, and I sincerely hope this isn’t the end of Sony’s portable line. It would be a shame to see a perfectly good legacy go to waste because they screwed up the Vita and got greedy with over-priced memory cards.
