Classic venue revamped and reramped

A classic map from the original Splatoon will return to the arena-shooter’s sequel tomorrow, as Piranha Pit will be added to the game’s rotational roster of battle arenas.

Piranha Pit is a somewhat aesthetically dull looking map set in a quarry. It is famous for its selection of ramps and conveyor belts, allowing players to trundle against the grain or pick up a burst of speed, depending on which way the floor is currently moving. Although fairly grimy in tone, it rarely takes too long before the exterior is given a splash of colour.

Players have already noted from the released images that the map has been given a graphical overhaul, and also a redesign, particularly around it’s central battlefield. But we’ll find out how the classic venue holds up to modern day Splatoon action when Piranha Pit goes live, March 30, at 19:00 PT in North America. Europe and Japan, as always, will follow early the next day.
