The Phoenix Wright movie is legit, coming 2012

The rumor mill has been kicking some ass these past few weeks! We have yet another confirmation, this time validating the speculation that famed Japanese director Takashi Miike’s new film would be a live-action version of the zany DS courtroom game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

Story bits are currently nonexistent, but we do know that it will be produced by Nippon Television and distributed by Toho, and that it scheduled to be released in Spring 2012. We also have casting deets for the three leads — Hiroki Narimiya as Phoenix Wright, Takumi Saito as Miles Edgeworth, and Mirei Kiritani as Maya Fey. Those names probably won’t mean jack-all to you unless you are a total J-drama-phile, but whatev.

Comparisons of the actors against their virtual counterparts are in the gallery below, care of Famitsu. Based on looks alone, I’m not complaining. Let’s hope this movie eventually gets some Western exposure.
