The Overwatch beta just added a ton of new stuff

Another map, and some changes

Recommended Videos

Overwatch has made a lot of progress since it launched in closed beta form, and this week, a new update dropped. “Play of the Game” has been tweaked to highlight more styles of play, a new map, Route 66 has been added, and a number of quality of life changes have been made, including concessions for players to get into a “backfill” (read: game in progress) session, and plans for how to deal with leavers.

There’s also another controversial change to Zenyatta, as his buff ball only stays on a target for three seconds if you are out of line of sight — so no more “set it and forget it” strategies for Tracer and Genji. Blizzard hopes that this will lead to a more active playstyle with the character, so that you don’t have to basically DOT the carry and not do anything else for the rest of the match. We’ll see how the community takes to it.

I was just at Blizzard HQ playing the newest Overwatch build, so expect some thoughts next week.
