The official PlayStation 4 app is out on Android and iOS

Nice!

That long awaited PlayStation 4 app is now live, and you can find it on both Google Play and iTunes. What does the app do, well basically it allows you to check your trophies, friend list, and connect to your soon-to-be-owned PS4 for extra functionality similar to SmartGlass.

It does have a PlayStation Store option, but it’s basically just a link to the marketplace via a browser, which is disappointing. There is a reasoning behind this though, since the marketplace providers would stand to make a cut off of purchases within the app, technically designated as IAPs.

Still, a PlayStation app! The next-gen is really here, guys!
