The Nintendo Switch Online service launches on September 18 with a seven-day free trial

Wii would like to play

As part of the co-announcement of the rescheduling of the delayed Direct, Nintendo has also shared some big news: the new Switch online service will arrive on September 18. According to Nintendo it’ll come with a “seven-day free trial for all Nintendo Account holders,” and “features and pricing” will be a topic of discussion for the Nintendo Direct tomorrow.

And that talk couldn’t come soon enough. We’re a mere five days away from the launch of a major component of Nintendo’s future and we basically have no clue what it will entail other than a selection of old games we already bought on the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U. They’re classics, sure, some of which I still enjoy, but I wouldn’t necessarily call them a feature when compared to PS+ and Xbox Live Games with Gold.

Even without the Direct’s delay it would be cutting it too close.
