The Nintendo Switch is about to hit 100 eShop games five months after launch

A few aren’t great, a lot of them are

I was thinking of writing something about the general success of the Switch eShop and how it’s persuaded more developers than the Wii U did even this early on, but this seems like as good a time as any. A friend directed my attention to the eShop last night, noting that there were nearly 100 games on it — when Sonic Mania hits, it’ll break that barrier.

That’s…quite a bit for a system that’s not even half a year old. Some of them are ports, a few are shovelware, and some are middling, but many of them, especially Nintendo’s first party offerings, are worth getting.

It’s only going to get better as the year goes on and we spring into 2018 — Nintendo’s attempt to outsell the Wii U. But for now, it’s worth reflecting on. How many games do you have?
