The next big World of Warcraft update, Visions of N’Zoth, is live next month

World of Warcraft Classic is clinging to the past (admirably, I should say), but Battle for Azeroth is moving forward, for better or worse.

But before Sylvanas becomes one of the most powerful characters in the current WoW universe (incoming lore “actually” discussions when that next expansion launches), we have to wrap up the expansion that’s live now.  That includes the upcoming Visions of N’Zoth update, which is out on January 14.

That one will bring us back to old areas (Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Uldum) and new ones (Ny’Alotha, The Waking City) in a bid to squeeze all of the last story beats out of Battle for Azeroth. The city is the new 12-boss raid, and will feature N’Zoth, one of the current big bads.

It all won’t come immediately, though. On January 21 the normal and heroic (hard, but not worst-first stream hard) difficulties will unlock, with mythic (there we go) unlocking a week later along with Raid Finder Wing 1 (LFR). From there Wing 2 will be available on February 11, Wing 3 on February 25 and Wing 4 on March 10. PVP season 4 will also arrive “shortly after” January 14’s content drop.

Again, I love that Blizzard allows everyone to experience raids at their own pace with the (easier) LFR system and not just world-first streamers. It’s a great compromise that allows people to experience the entirety of the story instead of just chunks of it.
