The next Awesomenaut is a space butterfly prophet

Will arrive with a whole bunch of balance tweaks

Ronimo Games’ next big update to the PC version of their side-scrolling MOBA, Awesomenauts, is going to shake up the game considerably. For starters, they’ll be adding the first new support character since the game launched, the “pollen priest” Genji. He can create a shield to deflect damage from friendly units and wrap up enemies in a sticky cocoon, both of which sound like valuable skills.

Along with him will come some considerable balance tweaks. Silence abilities are getting a healthy buff, Gnaw is getting some of his groove back, and flying droids are being reined in a bit, among many other small changes that are likely to result in all manner of re-evaluating strategies. You should really go and check out the (working) list of changes Ronimo has going on over at their forums because it’s far too numerous a list to fully detail here.

I still play a round or two of Awesomenauts almost every day, so I’m excited for another character and some more adjustment. Gnaw needed to be taken down a peg, but I think they might have overreached a bit with the last update and it’s nice to see him recover some.
